As we are in the middle of the National Football League’s season, most Americans are glued to their televisions and Fantasy Football lineups. With all of the action on and off the field, it can be easy to overlook some minor changes on the sidelines. Coaches and players are now using tablet technology to review plays, film, and football schemes in-between drives.  The old ways of 3-ringed binders and film projectors are obsolete with the introduction of tablet technology and instantaneous feedback. Tablet Technology is now apart of our daily life. Tablets are now treated as our lifeline to the world around us in both personal and business settings. It is for this reason that Archelon Enclosures was created.

What inspired the creation of the Archelon?

The creator of the Archelon got a call from a hotel in San Diego that had placed iPads in their Lobby Bar to encourage guests to order their own cocktails through a customized app. Soon after the implementation of the program, they realized that the iPads had a penchant for disappearing. A call was made to Motivational Systems, Inc., to see if we could provide a solution to secure their iPads. And voila! The Archelon was born! A sleek, sexy, and secure enclosure for the iPad®, allowing it to be placed in public spaces protecting it from theft or damage.

Why the name, Archelon?

The Archelon was named after a prehistoric sea turtle, the largest ever known to mankind. Lacking a hard shell, it relied on the strong skeletal frame that protected it without limiting performance. Much in the same way, the tough but open framework of the Archelon allows for secure protection without detracting from the modern sleek design of any computer tablet.

Archelon Enclosures participated in Honeywell’s recent Interactive Solutions Fair for the employees of Illinois-based CDW, an integrated information technology solutions provider.  The goal of the event was to showcase the Honeywell products by giving the CDW team a hands-on through interactive, tablet-based point-of-sale (POS) system stations.

Honeywell selected several partners to participate in the event including eMobilePOS, Samsung, Star Micronics and Archelon Enclosures, to just name a few.

“It was great to partner with all these fabulous vendors to showcase a full solution,” Jason Manguba, regional channel manager, Honeywell Scanning and Mobility, said. ”We covered all verticals from retail and warehouse to healthcare!”

Throughout the event, participants could see the functionalities of mobile technology in the following ways:

“Working with partners like Honeywell, Samsung, Star Printers and eMobilePOS gave the CDW employees a hands-on understanding of all the moving pieces involved in selling a mobile POS system,” said Debi Besmer, managing partner, Archelon. “It was a great interactive event that will help them better guide their customers in mobile technology purchasing decisions.”

Archelon Enclosures has tablet enclosures for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Tab 3 and will continue to develop enclosures as Samsung’s tablet line continues to evolve.
